Heathrow Terminal Information and facilities.
Terminal 1
Terminal 1 was completed in 1968 and formally opened by the Her
Majesty the Queen in 1969. All internal flights to UK airports
depart from this terminal along with most UK airline departures
to Europe. At present some British Airways flights notably
the domestic flights currently fly out of terminal 1 but from
2008
when Terminal 5 is completed the intention is for all British
Airways traffic to fly from this one terminal. The big plus
for British
Airways is that passengers will not have to transfer from one
terminal to another to make connecting flights and this will
become a big
selling point.
Check-in and Departures for domestic destinations operate from
the first floor of Terminal 1, on the left of the concourse.
Check-in desks for international flights are located in the
middle and on
the right of the concourse. Following 9/11 check in times to
the more sensitive destinations have in some cases been extended
and
you need to check tickets carefully especially if going to
the USA and Israel.
Terminal 2
The check-in area is located on the ground floor of Terminal
2. Departures and arrivals are located on the first floor.
Terminal 2 is used mainly for flights to Europe, but some longer-haul
flights also operate from this terminal. Terminal 2 serves over
30 airlines, including Adria Airways, Cronus Air, Lufthansa,
Olympic Airways, Uzbekistan Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
Terminal 3
Check-in is located on the ground floor at the front of the building
and departures is above check-in on the first floor.
London Heathrow's Terminal 3 is for long-haul terminal for
destinations in the US, Asia and Africa. Terminal 3 serves
over 40 airlines,
including Air Canada, Air Jamaica, British Airways, Cathay
Pacific, Korean Air and Singapore Airlines.
Terminal 4
Check-in is located on the first floor of the terminal. The
roof of Terminal 4's short term car park is on the same
level giving
passengers direct access.
Heathrow's Terminal 4 is mainly for British Airways long-haul
and other flights into Europe. Terminal 4 serves a total
of 10 airlines,
including British Airways, British Mediterranean, Kenya
Airways, KLM, Qantas and TAT.
